Obituary for Mildred Ynez Hetland

Mildred Ynez Hetland, 90, of Winchester, died Monday, September 18, 2017 at her home.
Mrs. Hetland was born on June 2, 1927 in Jones County, Texas; the daughter of Norvell Franklin Brown and Georgia Ethel Thomas Brown. She attended Texas Tech. She was a lifelong Lutheran and former member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church. She was an Avid Bridge enthusiast. She received a Lifetime Masters in Duplicate Bridge. She was a mover and shaker in the Republican Party and held various offices in VFRW. She was on the Board of Directors of Wayside Theater, served on the Frederick County Electoral Board, and was a long-time member of the Winchester Country Club.
She married Richard Lyle Hetland on January 15, 1950. Mr. Hetland preceded her in death on October 31, 2009.
She is survived by her children, Susan Oliver of Richmond, VA, Rick Hetland of Tuscon, AZ, Gary Hetland of Stephens City and Dan Hetland of Cross Junction; seven grandchildren and one great grandchild.
A private graveside was held on Friday.
Anyone who knew Ynez would remember her green eyes, her absolute love of Winchester, and her commitment to the Republican Party. She will be dearly missed by those who loved her.
