Obituary for Helen Anna Thomas
Helen A. Thomas passed away at Fox Trail Assisted Living in Stephens City, VA on February 14, 2018.
Helen was born August 21, 1921 in Frostburg, MD, daughter of Raymond Anderson and Meta (Wilhelm) Anderson Seiforth. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She had three sisters, Margret Anderson, Mabel Kyle, and Virginia James.
Helen married William H. Thomas, Sr., August 23, 1941 in Frostburg, MD. They spent years of moving around due to Williams’s job as special agent for the FBI, ending up in Winchester where they retired.
Surviving are a son, William H. Thomas Jr. of Winchester, his wife Jacqueline Bell Thomas and children, Sean Thomas of Texas, Will and Anna of WV, and their five children, Michelle White and husband Neal and two children; daughter, Barbara Thomas and son James Ritter and wife Aja and two daughters; many cousins, nieces and nephews and special friends, Elizabeth Bailey Thomas and Stephen Ritter.
Helen was a member of Braddock Street United Methodist Church and participated in many activities. She was active in past years with the Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary, Meals on Wheels and NARFE.
Honorary Pallbearers will be William H. Thomas III, Sean M. Thomas, James T. Ritter, Neal White, Joseph James and Bill Orndroff.
Visitation for family and friends will be held February 19, 2018 from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at Jones Funeral Home in Winchester. There will be a graveside service at Mt. Hebron Cemetery in Winchester on February 20, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Frank Sherman officiating.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Braddock Street United Methodist Church, 115 Wolfe Street, Winchester, VA 22601, S.P.C.A. Shelter, 115 Featherbed Lane, Winchester, VA 22601 or The Salvation Army, 300 Fort Collier Road, Winchester, VA 22603.
