Obituary for Robert Lee Gray

Robert Lee Gray, 87, of Winchester, died Sunday, August 5, 2018.
Mr. Gray was a fifth generation Winchester native born December 24, 1930 to Allen B. and Mamie Boehm Gray.
He attended Handley High School, graduated Ferrum College in 1951 and Virginia Polytechnic Institute in 1958 in mechanical engineering. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran. Robert was licensed as a professional engineer in three states.
Robert’s work carried him to many foreign countries where he met his beloved wife, Berny, in Munich, Germany in 1963. They were married in 1964 with the union producing two outstanding children, Carol Anne (Gray) Osmon and her daughter, Leah, of Allen, Maryland and Dr. Allen L. Gray of Holly Springs, North Carolina.
Robert and family moved to Winchester in 1970 where he established Gray Engineering. The firm remained active until 2014 serving various industries in the area.
Robert was a lifelong member of the Masonic Lodge, Royal Arch Masons and Knights Templar Commandry #12.
He loved Winchester and was always proud to call it home. He graciously served the community with his technical expertise and with generosity to his clients.
A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, August 17, 2018 at Mount Hebron Cemetery. A memorial service will follow at 4:00 p.m. at Christ Episcopal Church with Rev. Webster Gibson officiating.
