Obituary for Margaret Ann Makowski (Wood)

Margaret Ann Makowski, 70, of Winchester, passed away peacefully November 20, 2018 at Winchester medical Center surrounded by family and friends.
Mrs. Makowski was born July 7, 1948 in Harrisonburg, VA; the daughter of the late Harlin and Alma Whetzel Wood. Margaret grew up in Lost River, WV and graduated from Mathias High School. Upon graduation, she completed cosmetology school in Martinsburg, WV in 1966.
On September 27, 1969, Margaret married the love of her life, Albert Makowski, and moved to Winchester. Over the next 49 years, Margaret was a stay at home mom and hairdresser. She was an avid bowler and a very active member and officer in the Stonewall Ruritan Club.
Everyone who met Margaret knew the love she had for her family and friends. Over the years, she was a caregiver to many members of her family and was always there to help her friends.
Margaret is survived by her husband Albert, son Eric of Winchester, and her adopted son Russ Lederhouse (Kelly) of Boyce, VA She also leaves behind a grandson, Shawn Miller of Inwood, WV, and a special cousin, Cindy Whetzel of Fayetteville, NC as well as many, many dear friends.
The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Jones Funeral Home in Winchester.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 24, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Jones Funeral Home with Rev. Anthony Layman officiating. Burial will be private.
