Ann Corrigan Mathews, 78, of Winchester, VA passed away on Thursday, May 18, 2017 at her home.
She was born on January 25, 1939 in Winchester; the daughter of Jean Shiner and Virginia Ursula Corrigan Shiner Massie. She was a homemaker loving to cook and bake for her family and friends. She belonged to the Moose Lodge #1367.
Ann married the love of her life and best friend, George B. Mathews, Jr., on June 28, 1982. He passed away in August 2011.
Surviving Ann is a son, Roger Kirk Welch of Winchester; grandchildren, Travis Welch and Erica Welch both of Winchester; brothers, Marvin Trail Massie and wife, Debbie, of Virginia and Mike Shiner of New York City, NY; niece, Laura Massie Baker of Strasburg, VA and nephews, Jason Massie of Winchester and Nathan Massie of Pennsylvania.
Along with her husband, George, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Rhonda Lynn Welch and brothers, William Guy “Billy” Massie and Raymond F. Massie.
The family will receive friends on Monday, May 22, 2017 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Jones Funeral Home.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at Jones Funeral Home with Rev. Alphonse D. Ford officiating. Burial will follow in Shenandoah Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Jason Massie, Nathan Massie, Eddie Higgs, Bill Baker, Marvin Massie and Howard Luttrell. Honorary pallbearer will be Travis Welch.
