Obituary for Mary J. Wolfe

Mary Jennings Wolfe, 82, formerly of Winchester, VA, passed away on Saturday, March 17, 2018, at St. Mary’s Hospital, Richmond, VA.
She was born May 5, 1935 in Woodstock, VA, daughter of the late Clarence Todd and Jessie Lambert Jennings. She graduated from Woodstock High School where she was a star point guard on the girls' basketball team. Mary wed John Thomas Wolfe on July 1, 1970. She was a member of Centenary United Church of Christ in Winchester and retired from the Department of Rehabilitative Services. Mary was an avid golfer and bowler before a stroke in 2008 limited her activities. Though she could no longer speak after the stroke, she made friends wherever she went and touched the lives of all she met.
She is survived by her beloved daughter, Catherine (Katie) Wolfe Bradshaw and husband Matthew and her grandsons, Jacob Thomas and Wyatt John Bradshaw, all of Richmond; and brother, Clarence Jennings and wife Eunice and sister, Alice Shaver and husband Walter, all of Winchester.
Along with her husband, John, she is predeceased by brother, Wayne Jennings and sisters, Jane Sullivan and Leah Ann Garber.
The family will receive friends Thursday evening March 22, 2018 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Jones Funeral Home, 228 S. Pleasant Valley Road, Winchester.
A funeral will be held Friday morning at Jones Funeral Home at 11:00 am with Rev. Barbara Rhodes officiating. Interment will follow at Greenhill Cemetery, 428 N. Buckmarsh St., Berryville, VA. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 4217 Park Place Ct., Glen Allen, VA, 23060 or online at www.donatenow.heart.org.
Pall bearers will be Jacob Bradshaw, Wyatt Bradshaw, Steve Shaver, Daniel Garber, William Jennings, and Tony Hileman.
