Russell “Beatle” Gilbert Gear, 75, of Winchester, VA went home to be with the Lord, June 29, 2018 at Virginia Baptist Hospital in Lynchburg, VA.

Russell was born February 11, 1943 in Winchester; the son of the late Richard and Delma Grove Gear. He was a graduate of John Handley High School class of 1962. Russell was an avid sports fan, his favorite teams being the Dallas Cowboys, Los Angeles Dodgers and his alma mater, Handley High School. He worked for Henkel Harris for 47 years until his retirement. He was a lifetime member of the Winchester Moose Lodge and a member of Highland Presbyterian Church.

Russell is survived by his brother Hunter Gear; nephews, Jason Patterson and Derek Gear; niece, Ashley Gear and great nieces, Rileigh Patterson, Amelia Seal and Ember Delaney.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Gear Jr. and two sisters, Roxanne Lee Gear and Mary Frances Durben.

The family will receive friends on Sunday afternoon, July 8, 2018 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at Jones Funeral Home in Winchester. The family suggests wearing your favorite sports team attire in honor of Russell.

A funeral service will be Monday, July 9, 2018 at Jones Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Charles Franks officiating. Burial will follow in Mt Hebron Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Derek Gear, Joey Delaney, Ronald Long, Hunter Gear, Brian McFarland and Michael Shuck.
