Obituary for Alice B. Rickard (Butler)
Alice Butler Rickard, 92, of Winchester passed from this life on April 22, 2019. Alice was born November 28, 1926, in Milldale, VA, to Eunice Welch Butler and James Edward Butler. She had two brothers, Lewis and Francis, and two sisters, Eva and Ada (all deceased.)
She married William H. Mowrey (deceased) and had two children, Betty Lee and Stephen Thomas (deceased.) She later married Kemper C. Rickard (deceased) with whom she shared 35 wonderful years. She became step-mom to Mary L. Rickard and Stephen L. Rickard, both deceased.
After retiring from Avtex Fibers of Front Royal, VA, she cultivated her passions for growing things, homemaking, and mountain living.
She is survived by daughter, Betty M. Johnson, daughter-in-law,
Kim Mowrey, grandchildren Carey Ann Johnson, Brad Andrew Johnson (Yudiann), Robin Acome (Jeff), Rodney Clark (Rita), eight great- grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. A grandson,
Bobby Clark and son-in-law, Lester E. Johnson, Jr., preceded her in death.
A private service will be held Saturday, April 27, 2019, at the mausoleum at Shenandoah Memorial Park at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Charly Franks of Highland Memorial Presbyterian Church officiating.
A memorial may be made to Highland Memorial Presbyterian Church or Blue Ridge Hospice.
