Charles “Kat” Conrad Cadwallader, 77, of Kearneysville, WV died Friday, February 5, 2021 at Hospice of the Panhandle.
Kat was born August 30, 1943 in Winchester, VA; the son of the late Cecil Kimmer and Helen Gardiner Cadwallader.
He married Lisa Ann Downes Cadwallader, May 16, 1981 in Rockville, MD.
Kat served his country in the Army National Guard and was a lifelong patriot. He was a member of AMVETS Post 30, American Legion Post 71 and a past member of the VFW Men’s Auxiliary 3522. Kat volunteered at the VA Medical Center in Martinsburg, and was one of the original three who started the Jefferson County Honor Guard. He also enjoyed antique cars and was a member of many antique car clubs in and around the area. He worked at the Montgomery Public Schools until his retirement.
Along with his wife, Lisa, he is survived by his brother Cecil K. Cadwallader, Jr (Janice) of Aiken, SC; three brother in laws, P. David Downes (Lori) of Hagerstown, MD, Robert A. Downes (Brittany) of New Market, MD, Harry F. Downes (Amiee) of Silver Springs, MD; many cousins, nephews, nieces, great nephews, great nieces; and his many brothers and sisters in arms and friends.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, February 15, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at Jones Funeral Home with Pastor Tom Hoffmaster officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior. Burial will follow in Mount Hebron Cemetery with military honors. Reception at The American Legion, 225 W. Washington St. Charles Town, WV. Food Donations are greatly appreciated but must be store bought or prepared in an establishment due to COVID.
Pallbearers will be Matt Renner, Gerald Kauffman, Wayne Kidwiler, Garrett Lisak, Todd Wilt, and Steven Smith.
Kat’s Honorary Rifflemen Eric Petty, Sam Bunner, Mike Potts, Mike Stokes, Shawn Pitcock, and Jesse Mauck, will assist the US Army.
