Obituary for James Button
James “Jim” Button, aka Papa, 59, died November 14, 2020 in Mt. Jackson, VA.
Jim also known to his friends as “Ace” was born January 11, 1961 in Schenectady, NY; the son of the late Jack Emerson and Judith Ellen Petty Button. Jim began working at the age of 18 as a telephone lineman putting in 30 years until his retirement in 2016. During his time in upstate New York he studied and enjoyed forestry and logging. Jim loved the outdoors and could name every tree or leaf around. He also enjoyed NASCAR, bluegrass music, time in his garage and Italian foods, but most of all his grandson, Drew. He was a member of Reliance United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his daughter, Michelle Kessinger (Mark) of Strasburg; grandchildren, Drew Huhn (Dominique) of Winchester, Joseph , Anthony, Yazmin and Michael Kessinger all of Strasburg; brother, Joe Button (Kerry) of Galway, NY; sister, Joannie Valenti (Greg) of Bumpass, VA; nieces and nephews, and his best friends and family Jim Ferraro, (Cindy) of Loris, SC, fifty years and Donna Button of Middletown, VA, thirty one years.
He is preceded in death by his brother, Jack Button.
The family will have a Celebration of Life at a later date.
