Obituary for Julia Weathers "Kay" Shaw (Weathers)
Julia “Kay” Weathers Shaw, 74, of Purcellville, VA, passed into the arms of Jesus Sunday, December 4, 2022, at Inova Loudoun Hospital.
Kay was born October 16, 1948 in Durham, NC, the daughter of the late Ray Elam and Dorothy Thompson Weathers. On April 6, 1968, she married Curtis G. Shaw, Jr. Over the years they lived in Durham, NC, Winston-Salem, NC, McGaheysville, VA, and Winchester, VA, which is where they found “home” in 1985. Curtis passed away in 2009, and Kay joined her family in Purcellville, VA.
Kay loved to travel with her family and friends. She loved cruising and all beaches everywhere from South Carolina to the Caribbean to Hawaii. Her grandchildren were the delight of her life. She was so happy to be able to share life with them.
She is survived by her daughter, Julia Shaw-Fuller, son-in-law, Rob Shaw-Fuller, and grandchildren, Nathan, Rebecca, and Daniel Shaw-Fuller.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30am on Saturday, December 17 at The Victory House. At the request of the family, please dress comfortably and in Christmas attire or colors. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Kay’s name to The Victory House at 520 E Main Street Purcellville, VA 20132.
