Obituary for Kenneth Thomas "Tom" Dean Jr.

On May 6th 2019, K. Thomas (Tom) Dean, Jr. passed away at home surrounded by his family at the age of 74. He was born on March 8, 1945 in Somerville, NJ the son of Mary Jane Cruse Dean and Kenneth Thomas Dean.
Tom was the first Eagle Scout in the 40-year history of his troop and a 1963 graduate of West Morris High School in Chester, NJ. He received his BA from Ursinus College in 1968 and a MBA from Seton Hall University in 1971. While at Ursinus he served as President of the Men’s Student Government in 66-67 and was the first President of the United Student Government Association in 67-68.
He married Barbara Marie DiPasquale on February 8, 1975.
He spent most of his career in procurement, supply and distribution functions related to the chemical industry. His early career was with Allied Chemical, FMC Corporation and Mobil Chemical Corporation. He retired from Mobil Oil Corporation achieving the position of Global Chemical Purchasing Manager.
Tom has always felt the responsibility to give back to the community. He was a President of Rotary International, had 38 years of experience volunteering with three fire and rescue organizations (last Gainesboro V F & R), had been a member of the Gainesboro Ruritan Club and was a receptionist for CCAP (Christian Community Action Program). He was a member of Redlands United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother John (Jack) and brother Marc. He is survived by wife Barb (Stephenson, VA), sister Joanne (Blacksburg), brother Dave (Long Valley, NJ), daughter Beth (Scott) Windsor (Winchester), son TK (Sarah) (Hollidaysburg, PA) and son Adam (Lisa) (Ashburn). Also surviving are grandchildren Greg and Julie Windsor, Addison and Tyler Dean and Matthew and Kathryn Dean and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at Redlands United Methodist Church in Cross Junction, VA by Pastor Andy Brock at 2:00 pm on Saturday, June 1st with a reception to follow at the Gainesboro Volunteer Fire and Rescue Dept.
