Dick was my cousin so I remember him growing up and as a young man. He was always so socially adept and outgoing, and competent at all he did. An avid sports fan, player of cards, and sports games at family gatherings; he usually won. I also remember him as a singer in high school having a prominent role in his class play--a Gilbert and Sullivan operetta, I think it may have been HMS Pinafore.

I also remember early in his outstanding Naval career him being kind enough to invite me as a young fleet sailor to visit him when my ship was in port when he was stationed stationed in Naples , Italy. Showing me the nicer side of the city. I wish I could have had the chance to know him better in later years. I'm very glad I got the chance to meet his family at least once many years ago. My sincerest condolences to Debbie, Shannon and Stephan, and all of his family.

I will miss my friend and 'king of the one-liners'! Our Church Choir has lost a wonderful member. However, I gave instructions a long time ago, that he and Jim Harmon and myself are going to sing together again! My love to Debbie, Shannon, Stephen, and all the family at the loss of this terrific guy! God bless.
Love,
Melody
