Sue Albin Spitler, 80, of Winchester died Friday, March 11, 2022.
Mrs. Spitler was born October 1, 1941 in Winchester; the daughter of the late Perry Jackson “Jack” Albin and Marie Hicks Albin. Sue was a 1960 graduate of John Handley High School. She retired as an unemployment insurance claims deputy with the Virginia Employment Commission. She was a member of Calvary Church of the Brethren and was involved in the Literacy Program in Winchester.
She married James W. “Sonny” Spitler on November 6, 1961. Sonny preceded her in death on March 3, 2019.
She is survived by her daughter, Bonnie Sue Spitler Hoover and husband, William of Winchester and Patty Black and husband Mark of Roanoke, VA; two grandchildren, Ashley Hogan and partner Evan and Sean Hogan and wife Ayla; and three great grandchildren, Austin, Everett, and Faelyn .
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 12:00 – 1:00 pm at Calvary Church of the Brethren. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm at the church with Pastor Jonathan Martino officiating. Burial will be private.
