Obituary for Susie Ann Cleveland

Susie Ann Cleveland (nee Susie Ann Young) was born in Silver City, New Mexico to parents Alfonso Balderama Young and Lorraine Mary Young (nee Machado) on November 15th, 1941. She was prominently known among friends and family for her nurturing and positive disposition.

In the 1960s, Susie spent years working in Vegas hotels and casinos. Beverly Hills was the site of her most favored workplace called The Candy Round-up; a place where movie stars frequented, such as Groucho Marx, Ralph Bellamy and Marlo Thomas among the many she prided in having the pleasure to meet.

Close friends and family members delighted in seeing her artwork. She painted sea and landscapes, portraits and cartoon characters frequently. Singing was also among her talents as well as crocheting many beautiful blankets.

Susie lost her battle with liver cancer on January 7th, 2020 at Winchester Medical Hospital. She is survived by naval veteran husband David Cleveland, sons James Johnson and William Cleveland and daughter Deborah Dirk as well as her older brother John Young, a former Baldwin Park Police Lieutenant. She has five beloved grandchildren

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, January 24, 2020 at 2:00 pmat Jones Funeral Home in Winchester with Rev. Mike Mayton officiating.
