Obituary for Clara Safronia Gaston (Cannon)
Clara S. Gaston of Clear Brook, VA, died at Winchester Medical Center on February 13, 2018.
Clara was born on February 2, 1931, a daughter of the late William Archie Cannon, Sr. and Mable Viola Cannon. She married the late Harold Don Gaston, Sr. on July 3, 1949. Clara worked at Sears Department Store in Indiana, PA before moving to Virginia to be closer to her kids. Clara was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Winchester. Clara was a very kind and loving soul; she had a loving and generous heart, always giving to others. She loved to bake and prepare meals for others. You never went hungry when you were at her house. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 61 years, Harold Don Gaston, Sr. in 2010 and her devoted son, Randy E. Gaston in 2015.
She is survived by her son, Harold Don Gaston, Jr. (Dottie) of Stephens City; daughters, Patsy Carothers (Jack) of Winchester and Traci Shoberg (David) of Clear Brook, VA and daughter in law, Pat Gaston. Clara was an amazing Mema/Gammy/Grandma to her grandchildren, Melissa Misleany, Harold Don Gaston III, Shawn Gaston, Adam Clendenen, Jamie Phillips, Becky Fulkerson, Ashley Gaston-Lee, Annie Gaston, Nicholas Shoberg and Ian Shoberg; thirteen great grandchildren as well as her faithful furry companion Gabby.
A celebration of life will be at a later date at Bethel Lutheran Church.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Bethel Lutheran Church, 2077 North Frederick Pike, Winchester, VA 22603.
