Obituary for Gennaro Cangiano

Gennaro  Cangiano
Gennaro “Jerry” Cangiano, 88, of Winchester, died Sunday, February 18, 2018 at his home cared by loved ones.
Jerry was born January 30, 1930 in Brooklyn, NY; the son of the late Dominick and Immacolata Imperatore Cangiano. He married Nell Hoover on August 8, 1953 in Spokane, WA. He was a graduate of Indiana Technical College after serving in the U.S. Air Force from 1948 – 1956. Having spent much of his career as a consultant in engineering including helping to design the Apollo Navigation System, he retired after many years working in the Washington DC area.
Jerry’s love of his family and his devotion to animals touched many lives. He found happiness in music, especially jazz, flying planes and was recognized by the SPCA for his efforts in rescuing cats.
He is survived by his children, Teresa “Tess” Klimm and her husband, Jeff of Middletown, VA, Sally Guarino and her husband Paul of Nelson County, VA and Dominick Cangiano and his wife, Kate of Agoura Hills, CA, two grandchildren, Abigail and Meg, and his brother, Salvatore Cangiano and his wife, Gail of Leesburg, VA. He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Nell, his sister Marie Guarino and brother Carmen Cangiano.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery.
