Michael Stephen Speet II was born in Winchester, Virginia on November 25, 1984. On December 20, 2016, Michael lost his valiant battle with heroin. Sadly, he was unable to overcome the barriers to achieve his goal of recovery. The challenges surfaced sometimes not just daily for him, but hourly. Looking beyond someone’s cover story of addiction, it is possible to see the deep beauty of the person within. Michael had a warm, generous, compassionate and vulnerable heart. The love and pride he held for his beautiful children were his greatest gifts. Michael often found comfort through hiking, canoeing and his love of nature, history, archeology and genealogy. His talent for carpentry was handed down from generations of builders.

The son of Vickie M. Snead and Michael S. Speet, along with his parents, he is survived by his children, Lucy Michelle Speet, Lennon Gabriel Maddox Speet and Cadden Speet and six brothers, Jestin Michael Jeffries, Aaron Norris Speet, Gabriel Spencer Speet, George Marken Speet, Greyson Jennings Puckett and Hunter Collins Puckett.

A celebration of life will be Saturday, December 31, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at The Lord’s Chapel, 1244 Greenwood Road, Winchester, VA 22602 with Suwaylu Adams officiating.
