Vivian Nicholson Hoffman, 90, of Winchester, VA died Thursday, August 26, 2010 at her residence with her daughter by her side.
She was born on July 16, 1920 in Spring Gap, MD, the daughter of the late George Dewey and Ineze Fincham Nicholson. She married the late Norman C. Hoffman on June 5, 1936 in Hagerstown, MD. Vivian retired from the Department of Health, Education and Welfare in 1975.
She is survived by one daughter, Linda D. Henley of Cumberland, MD and one son Larry A. Hoffman of Winchester, VA; nine grandchildren, Michael, Dwayne, Jessica, Jamie, Jodi, Mark, Aaron, Niki and Sunnie; two great grandchildren, Michael and Alison; and a brother, Buford Nicholson of Winchester, VA. She was preceded in death by three sons, David L. Hoffman, Ronald N. Hoffman and Richard N. Hoffman; one daughter, Joy Elizabeth Hoffman; four sisters, Virginia Tharpe, Mary Ann Abel, Colleen Rutherford and Dorothy Unger; and a brother, Winnie Nicholson.
The family will receive friends and relatives on Monday August 30, 2010 from 1 to 3 p.m. two hours prior to the service at the funeral home. A service will be held Monday, August 30, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. at Jones Funeral Home Chapel in Winchester with Rev. Kenneth K. Patrick officiating. Entombment will be in Mt. Hebron Cemetery.
