Condolences

Condolence From: Mitsi Lizer
Condolence: Evelyn and family- Dr. K provided many lectures for the pharmacy and nursing students at Shenandoah University as well as guided them and me on the Behavioral Health Unit at WMC. He always liked to know if I had read and could discuss with him the most recent psychiatric article on a new medication. His patients adored him and coworkers respected him. He will be missed but will be remembered fondly by all. My sympathies and wishes for peace to you all.

Condolence: Dear Evelyn and Family, I am so sorry to hear of Kic's passing. I was honored to be his nurse for 14 years at NWCSB in Winchester and am a much better psychiatric nurse because of my association with him. He taught me so much. Working at a different CSB, now, I often quote many of his teachings. The care of the mentally ill was greatly enhanced not only in the Winchester and surrounding areas, but also on the state level due to his role in being the first psychiatrist to prescibe Clozaril at the state funded Aftercare Pharmacy pilot project. His participation in this project opened the way for other patients in Virginia to have access to this important first atypical anti-psychotic medication in the 1990's and increased ten fold the quality of life for those who otherwise would not have had access to this important medication, and other atypical meds that followed. He will be missed by all who worked with him, and all of those patients he helped to transform their lives. Being on vacation in NC and having just learned of his passing, I am sorry thst I will be unable to attend his funeral. Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you today.
Sincerely, Jan Puffenberger

Condolence: So sorry to learn of his death. Our daughter Mary Bethune Ludtke Jordan, a colleague @ WMC, credits him with saving her life many years ago. When my husband was pastor in Front Royal '67-'83 he knew of many occasions when Dr. Kic ministered to folks.
